Frostpunk 2 is a continuation of the Urban Development Strategy published in 2018. 30 years have passed since the release of the first episode. In Frost’s world, punk began in the late 1800s. sudden cold snap of the century. The first to die will be the southern states, which will not be able to cope with the harsh climate. Over time, the entire country will be covered with ice and snow. A small group of survivors founded a settlement in the Arctic surrounded by a powerful generator – their only source of heat. In Frost Punk 2, humanity has become accustomed to living in permafrost, although the harsh climate remains dangerous. As society recovers, people face new challenges such as internal conflicts and political divisions. The player takes on the role of the leader of a wealthy metropolis. In Frostpank 2, you must look after the basic needs of the population, provide accommodations for various groups of people, and solve the problems of opposing factions.

This is still an urban strategy game with survival elements. Just like in the first part, Frostpunk 2 is constantly running out of resources. Therefore, important decisions have to be sacrificed. The city is divided into districts. Among them, for example, are industrial, where production is concentrated, and scientific, where research is concentrated. In Frostpunk 2, you need to make sure that everything is running smoothly in different parts of the city. A vote will take place in the council chamber that will influence the fate of the city. Unlike the first part, the player cannot simply ban child labor – to do this, he must first gain a sufficient number of votes in the council. Different factions have their own requirements and preferences, so you won’t be able to please everyone. For example, the growing development of technology does not please Luddites who are accustomed to a traditional way of life.

Residents can stage a coup and overthrow the mayor. Thus, it all ends when the player makes too many difficult decisions and upsets all segments of the population. This automatically crashes and the player must load the latest vault. Sandbox mode appears. Here, before starting the game, you can select communities and groups whose interests and needs should be taken into account. There is no such option in story mode. In the continuum, time is measured in months and years. In the original, the player lived separately every day.
