A completely new mechanic has been added to the game. The Heat system was created to motivate players to try more attacks than defend and wait for the right moment to attack. According to the developers, the system was inspired by the behavior of professional Tekken players in eSports tournaments: most of them used defensive tactics and rarely went into an open attack for fear of being hit by the enemy. Tekken 8 takes place six months after the events of Tekken 7.
